Gardens are for kids!

Here is the biggest cucumber I have grown, not too big but it was yummy. Grammy always tells me that gardens are for kids. I have been so careful with my garden and worked so hard on it that I haven't wanted to let the kids get in it and chance them stepping on anything and breaking anything. I've been better this year than in years past. I've taught them how to water the plants with out putting the hose directly on the plant. I taught them how to walk with out stepping on the plants and to twist to pull off the vegetables and not the whole plant. So now they just run out and pick vegetables whenever I need them and they can enjoy eating them because they helped to pick and prepare them. It is so satisfying having a garden. Thanks for your help Audrey and Hailey.

I've had a bit of a headache.

I haven't posted in a long time because I've had a headache for a few weeks. I'm trying to get it all worked out. I might see if my doctor can give me an antibiotic today to help with the cold that he thinks has been causing the headaches. We'll see I'll be blogging soon with lots of fun photos as soon as I'm all well. I'm optimistic that I'm on the mend. Love you all.

I'm afraid I have no pictures today. I've just decided to write and say I'm going to follow a calendar. Chris tells me all the time when I tell him something we need to do, "It's not on my calendar." I have been mostly frustrated when he says this. But I decided he's not trying to frustrate me. He is trying to help us have order. So I'm going to try really hard to remember to put everything I need to do on my calendar and follow it every day. Then at least when I tell Chris that we are going to the park after dinner he wont be surprised. I already put that we are going to the library on Wednesday night. We went last week and the kids had a really fun time picking out books. So I figure we need to return the old ones so we might as well get new ones. Wish me luck. I need order in my life.

It isn't gong to be summer much longer.

This is what I keep telling the kids this every time they ask if they can watch a movie. I'm excited for fall and school. But I will really miss is being able to send the kids outside to play. Most of the summer we spent outside this year playing with the neighbor kids. My house will also be more messy with the kids playing inside all of the time. But what can I do the winter will surely come. So we should enjoy the good weather while it is still here, and play outside.

Finally a reward for the work!

We have a little garden area in front of our house between the garage and the front porch. I have done stuff with it in the past. But I didn't do much with it for a couple of years. I finally decided to plant climbing roses with trellises. When I went to buy the roses I discovered they were pretty pricey. I did find these unusual plants I had never seen before. They are called Bougainvillea's, I think. The flower petals look like pink leaves and they have a little yellow flower in the center. I just thought they were fascinating. Well here are the first blooms I have had since I planted the 3 plants over a month ago. It was just so sweet to go outside and see the pink flowers.

My latest project!

This is Audrey and Hailey's latest chore present. They earned these for keeping their room clean every night. Each week their room is clean they get a present. This is one of the bigger ones. They decided these would be good to decorate their new room. Hailey, Audrey and I went to Roberts last Saturday to buy the stuff to make these fun boards. I let them pick which boards the paper and flowers. We also picked out these cute fun jewels to go in the center of the flowers. The photos of Audrey and Hailey I took with out a flash so they didn't turn out very well. I have to get the lighting figured out before I take a photo. Well these name boards turned out so cute. I just love them. I'm thinking about making them for all of the kids rooms we'll see if I do it.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me. I promised myself I would have a good day today. So no matter how grouchy people are or could be around me. I will not let it get to me. I keep telling myself it is my birthday and I will have a wonderful day. I will fold lots of fun birthday laundry and clean up my kitchen. I will play with my kids and have a great day. Then I'll top it off this evening with sealings at the Jordan River Temple with my husband. I even think I might try to get a sitter and go out to lunch. It will be a great birthday. :)

Kate's first day of school.

Today was Kate's first day of preschool. She was so excited. She loved Miss Angie last year. She did have a hard time not starting school on the same day as Audrey and Hailey. But the week passed and she started. Here are some photos of her in her new skirt I got from Sears for $1.99. She looks so cute. We were late though. Because 10 minutes before we left she said she wanted curly hair for her first day at school. So I was kind enough to get the curling iron out and curl her hair. Love ya Kate!

Here they go, for another year at school.

The first day of school!

Yesterday was Audrey and Hailey's first day of school. They are in 1st grade this year. Honestly I spent the day sad. I waited and waited for this moment and then I didn't want to let them go. They are so big and beautiful. This summer we have come so far in the chore department. They have been keeping their room clean and doing their chores everyday. They are very helpful around the house. It is sad to know they wont be helping me as much since they will be at school all day long. They were really excited to eat lunch at school. I hope they play nice at recess and I hope they can get along with their fellow classmates. So far they seem happy. They like their teachers. They are really excited to be back in school. We'll see if mom can keep up, and not miss them so very much.

The Bair's on a Sunday afternoon.

Here is Max reading the news paper. We take the Sunday paper because that is the day when we actually have time to read it. So on Sundays we read the paper and take a nap. We also celebrate birthdays with each of our families. This last Sunday we had my parents over for dinner. We don't have any summer birthday's on the Printy side so we don't get to see them as often in the summer as we do in the winter. My mom brought artichokes, my kids loved them. What a fun treat! This Sunday also was stake conference. I love stake conference. It is my favorite meeting of the year. We usually try to go prepared to feel the spirit. We are always uplifted. The adult meeting is even better because it comes with no distractions (children). I really love my children, but it is nice to be able to give my undivided attention to the speaker. Our conference was on strengthening the family. So I have new goals of being kind, showing love, and taking better care of my family. I want so many good things, to have scripture study and prayer and regular family home evenings. I just need to keep trying and every day I can improve. Stake conference is also nice because you have more time after church. We usually get out at 2:00 because we have 11:00 church. But today it was at 10:00 so we got up early got ready and got seats at 9:00. But we got home just after 12:00 so we had lunch and were able to spend time with the kids before we took a nap. It was really nice. Audrey and Hailey's favorite new game is UNO so we play that a lot too. Sunday's are such a wonderful day. I love Sunday's!

Guess what I'm doing tonight!

Todd and Erin's Slumber Party!!! B98.7 does a slumber party every year for ladies to come and pamper themselves. There is food, lots of different sponsors who give out tons of free stuff. I'm really excited. I've wanted to go for a couple of years now. I mentioned that I wanted to go to my friend Camille and she said, "I go every year, when is it?" I said, "tomorrow." She told me that she could get us tickets. WOHOO!! So now we are going. YEAH!! I'm so excited. I hope my poor husband is okay with the kids on our weekly date night, sorry sweetie.

Chore Presents.

Kate got her first Chore Present. A while ago I instituted a chore reward system where if the girls did a chore they would get a smiley face in a box if they filled up 36 boxes they would be able to pick a present from the present box/bowl. I went out and bought little $1, $2, or $3 toys and wrapped them up. Kate got all of her boxes filled. So here is her reward. Good job Kate.

The finished bike project.

Well here it is. It took 2 days and last night when I was riding I had two malfunctions. So the bike still needs work. But is has been fun taking the kids out to ride. Some day I'll go out and not have any troubles or delays. We'll see when that day comes. When Audrey and Hailey go to school all day I can take these 3 on a bike ride and go as fast as I want. Not too fast though.

My beautiful yellow flowered hat.

A few weeks before the tea party Grammy showed me the hats that we were going to wear. She said we could choose which hat we wanted to wear. I saw this hat with the yellow flowers and fell in love. I decided that I needed a new yellow dress to wear with it so my sweet friend Holly came with me and we found this yellow dress. I just think it went fabulous with the perfect hat. Thanks Holly and Grammy for the greatest tea party outfit.

Grammy's Tea Party!

Everyone was so excited for the long awaited tea party. Grammy Bair was so sweet and set up this wonderful party for us. She searched and searched for months for the perfect hats. She gave each of the girls a feather boa and sweet heart wreath. The girls also made fabulous pillows that said "Audrey is a Princess." They turned out so cute. I'll have to take photos of them to post. Grammy had Grandpa take portraits of the girls that I will post later. We also made each girl a double page 12x12 layout to put their portraits on. Each girl got to put her creative mind to work making the pages and making them their own. It was fun to watch them create. At the tea party we had so many delicious things to eat. We had, cream puffs, little quiches, tiny little pudding pies, crapes, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and teddy grahams, which I spilled twice. We could put 3 different beverages into our own tea pots. They were chocolate milk, lemonade, and orange juice. The table looked elegant. Everyone had a wonderful time enjoying tea with Grammy.

I did it!!!

I got the bike up and running, new straps on the bike kid seat, and I sewed new clips into the bike stroller. It took me the entire day on Friday to get that done. Then we went for a little bike ride all 5 kids and me for 5 minutes before the sun went behind the mountain. It was very satisfying. I took the bike and kids out today for a real ride around the block. Well really to Holly's house, but we made it in one piece with only one fall and 2 malfunctions. When we all got home and had lunch Chris was able to fix everything back up again. So I'll be ready for another ride on Monday and I'll take some photos this time.

My project for the day.

This is my project for the day. I got this from my sweet friend Holly. Her youngest child rides his own bike now. I'm really really excited about this. I bought a bike stroller a couple of years ago anticipating doing this. I wanted to buy a bike seat for Kate and put Max and Ruth in the bike stroller then Audrey and Hailey could ride their own bikes and we could all go on a bike ride. So maybe it is a crazy idea but it sure sounds exciting to me. I need to fix the straps on the bike seat, put in better seat clips in the stroller, I hate the ones that are in there. Also I need to fix the tires on my bike and make sure it is in working order. We'll see if I can do it. Wish me luck.

Hair do's by Desiree.

My niece Desiree came to sleep over and just had a ball doing all the girls hair. Kate got her hair done 3 times in one day, I think she loved Desiree's attention. Desiree decided to take photos of their hair dos so here they are. Now Kate only wants her hair done in a crown like Desiree did. Funny huh.
