Our first flood.
Friday morning Hailey woke us up at 4:30 am to tell us that water was pouring through her window. We got up and discovered that a sprinkler pipe was broken. It was filling her window well with water. We discovered about 6 inches of water in the window well. So Hailey and I scrambled to get towels to soak up and stop the water from coming in. Chris ran outside with the shop vac and climbed into the window well with the shop vac and sucked out all of the water. We used every towel in the house but 2. So poor Hailey who was on laundry last week had lots and lots of towels to wash and fold. We discovered the break in the sprinkler pipe is right by where the Questar gas guys were digging to fix a pipe. We are going to call them and see what they can help us with. We figure they just accidentally broke it. I'm really hoping we don't have to replace the bran new carpet. It still smells a little in their room. Maybe we can get the smell out with a good carpet cleaning. Wish us luck.

Oh man! The only way to fix that smell is to pull the carpet up and bleach everything under it. Make sure it dries out real well and then do whatever cleaning after you put the carpet back down! I totally had this problem right as we were leaving on a vacation. We found a leak in the water heater, which had slowly leaked into the kids bedroom. The wet carpet pad will not get clean with a regular carpet cleaning. I wish you luck!

Good thing they didn't break a gas or power line!
I hope you don't have to replace the carpet either, that would be awful! We have a little carpet cleaner if you need to borrow it. It works GREAT!
Love You!
